HE Qatar’s Prime Minister Holds Talks with Algerian Counterpart

Doha, November 23 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister of Algeria Abdelmalik Sellal on Sunday co-chaired the 5th meeting of the joint Qatari-Algerian supreme committee. At the outset of the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister welcomed the Algerian Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation, expressing satisfaction at the growth of the two countries' relations. He praised the positive results of the four previous joint supreme committee meetings, which led to the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in various fields, contributing to the development of bilateral cooperation. He stressed the importance of Qatar-Algeria relations, and the activation all bilateral cooperation agreements. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the existing bilateral relations and means to bolster them in addition to several regional and international issues of mutual concern. A number of Their Excellencies the Ministers attended the meeting. On the Algerian side, the meeting was attended by the members of the official delegation accompanying the Algerian Prime Minister. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and HE the Algerian Prime Minister signed the minutes of the fifth meeting of the joint Qatari-Algerian supreme committee. They, as well, witnessed the signing of memoranda of understanding and agreements, including an agreement on Cooperation and news exchange between Qatar News Agency (QNA) and the Algerian Press Service (APS), the first implementation programme in tourism, the second implementation programme of the cooperation agreement in the field of youth, the second implementation programme of the cooperation agreement in the field of sports, the fourth implementation programme of the education cooperation agreement, the first implementation programme of cooperation in the field of higher education, the third implementation programme for media agreement, the first implementation programme for cooperation in the fields of fishing under the cooperation MoU on fisheries, the second implementation programme in the cultural field under the cultural cooperation agreement, the twinning protocol between national libraries, MoU in the field of water resources, MoU on the areas of consumer protection, economic control and combating commercial fraud and a bilateral agreement on mutual administrative assistance for the optimum application of customs law to suppress, investigate and combat customs violations. HE the Prime Minister hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the Algerian Premier and the accompanying delegation. (QNA)
