The issuance of the new law marks a new era of quality health services for the citizens and residents, and reflects the kingdom’s aspirations for more development and progress, under HM the King’s leadership, he said. The ratification and issuance of the National Health Insurance Law by HM the King is a historic day and a milestone in the kingdom’s development march during HM King Hamad’s prosperous era, he said. He stressed that SCH’s health projects, particularly the Health Insurance System, had enjoyed the full support of the government, led by HRH the Prime Minister, and follow-up of the Executive Committee, chaired by HRH the Crown Prince. He affirmed that the issuance of the Health Insurance Law reflects the SCH’s strong determination emanating from HRH the King’s directives, adding that that the SCH, in partnership with the official sides in the kingdom, represented mainly by the Ministry of Health, and international think-tanks, had prepared the National Health Plan, which, he said, is a health strategy based on realistic studies on the needs of the Bahraini society regarding health care. The Health Insurance Law aims to provide the health requirements for the citizens and residents through the provisions of effective and high-quality services, optimal use of resources, and ensuring the patient’s rights, on top of which the right to choose the service provider.
