Health Ministry Deploys ICU Ambulances For Asian Games

JAKARTA, April 5 (Antara) - The Health Ministry of Indonesia will deploy 25 ICU ambulances for the 2018 Asian Games to be held simultaneously in Jakarta and Palembang (South Sumatra Province), on Aug 18-Sept 2. The ambulances would be equipped with devices for emergency services, dr Bobi Prabowo, chairman of the Indonesian Association of Medical Emergency Specialists, said here, Wednesday. "The ambulances will be equipped with devices such as ventilator, monitor, defibrillator, and an oxygen tube, so emergency help could be given inside the ambulance," he said. The height of the ambulances is two meters so paramedics could give provide emergency help such as CPR without a problem. Each ambulance will have one doctor and two nurses. During the Asian Games, the ambulances will be deployed in areas where high risk sports such as football, martial arts, cycling and marathon will be held. A back up ambulance will also be available, so when one ambulance is being used, another is standby. Besides, the public could also call the Public Safety center at 119 when they need an ambulance. In Indonesia, ambulances are usually used to transport patients to hospitals, where emergency help would be given.
