Health Ministry to donate medical supplies to Myanmar

BANGKOK, August 11 (TNA) - Thailand’s Public Health Ministry will donate medical supplies plus water purifiers worth about four million baht to flood-hit Myanmar, said Public Health Minister Dr Rajata Rajatanavin on Tuesday. Dr Rajata said his ministry had prepared 18 items of supply including 50 of water purifying machines to Myanmar and they will be delivered to that neighbouring country as soon as possible. Also, the ministry plans to dispatch a group of medical doctors to Myanmar and initially it would coordinate with Myanmar’s health ministry so that the assistance could meet the country’s demands, said Dr Rajata. The Thai government earlier donated five million baht in cash to Myanmar and is expected to offer more cash to that country. Myanmar’s media reported Monday that the death toll from severe flooding across Myanmar had reached 100, with nearly one million people affected. A total of 12 out of 14 states in that Southeast Asian country has been hit hard by weeks of torrential rain and severe flooding, according to the Myanmar’s media. (TNA)
