Heavier punishment on sexual harassment

BANGKOK, May 31 (TNA) - The cabinet has given the green light on an amendment of a Criminal Code which would impose a heavier punishment on those committing sexual harassment in the country. Deputy government spokesman Maj. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd said the cabinet on May 26 gave the approval for the amended law proposed by the Justice Ministry. The cabinet believed that the amended law would become a significant instrument in protecting innocent people from every form of social ills. The law is amended after the cabinet believed that there is still a gap in punishing rapists or those committing sexual harassment. If approved, this new law would impose heavier punishment, as nowadays, those who commit such undesirable acts also share explicit photos to the public. (TNA)
