Heavy Rain Lashes West Coastal Area of DPRK

Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- The west coastal area of the DPRK has been lashed by torrential rain, the heaviest one since Juche 70 (1981), which started at about 9:00 a.m. of July 9 due to the seasonal rainy front. As of 8:00 Wednesday, it rained over 200 mm in Phyongsong, Anju and Sunchon cities and Unsan County of South Phyongan Province and Unjon and other counties of North Phyongan Province for 24 hours. In particular, the rainfall reached 296-356 mm in Phyongsong and Anju cities and Unsan County, exceeding their July average precipitations. And the July 10 rainfall in Jungsan County was 233 mm, the highest since meteorological observation.
