Heavy storm hits Phrae

PHRAE, May 1 (TNA) - More than 200 houses were damaged Saturday night after a heavy storm hit the mountainous northern Thai province of Phrae. Officials said no casualties were reported from the storm which occurred the third time in the province. Several electricity poles were knocked down in the provincial seat, causing blackout in wide areas. Total damages were still unknown due to heavy rain and concerned officials are expected to make an inspection today. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department issued a warning early Sunday that several provinces in the North, Northeast and East could be hit by tropical storms and hailstones in some areas. People should not stay near big trees and billboard signs. (TNA)
