Heavy Traffic Flow Anticipated At S'pore Land Checkpoints Ahead Of Aidilfitri

SINGAPORE, July 1 (Bernama) -- Traffic flow through the land checkpoints at Woodlands and Tuas is expected to be heavy ahead of the Aidilfitri holidays next week. In a statement Friday, the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on July 5 and 6. "Security at our checkpoints remains ICA's top priority against any potential threats to Singapore. "With security checks, traffic build-up is inevitable, especially when a large number of travellers use the checkpoints at the same time," it said. To avoid a surge of travellers and vehicles seeking clearance at the land checkpoints, the ICA advised travellers to adjust their travel plans if possible. The ICA will continue to take necessary measures to improve clearance efficiency as much as possible without compromising security, it said. "We seek travellers' understanding and cooperation when using the land checkpoints during the peak periods," it added. -- BERNAMA
