HM King hails landmark athletics achievements

Manama, July 28 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa today received at Al-Safriya Palace Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) First Deputy Chairman, Head of Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA), West Asia Athletics Association President His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, who introduced 400-metre gold medalist Salwa Eid and 1500- metre silver medalist Dalila Abdel Qader in the World Youth Athletics Championship which concluded in Colombia recently. HM the King's Personal Representative HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and HM the King's Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa attended. HM the King congratulated the two athletes on the historic performance which added to other landmark sport achievements that reflect the dedicated efforts of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and BAA technical and administrative staff to promote athletics in Bahrain. He hailed the two athletes' historic achievements and their determination to honour their homeland, Bahrain, at the World Youth Athletics Championship in Colombia. He paid tribute to Bahraini women for their pioneering contribution to their country's development efforts and landmark achievements at different sport and youth arenas. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa paid tribute to HM the King for receiving Bahrain youth athletics team following their historic achievements in the 9th world championship. He hailed HM the King's support to Bahrain's athletes which boosted them to achieve landmark performances at different regional and international arenas.
