HM King receives SIAC chairman

Manama, Sep.3 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa received today, at Al-Safriya Palace, Supreme Islamic Affairs Council (SIAC) Chairman Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and council members. He commended the crucial role of the council since its inception more than twenty years ago in the era of late Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.  HM the King hailed the dedicated efforts exerted by the council to promote Islamic thought, clarify tolerant Islamic precepts and translate Bahrain’s commitment to all that unites Muslims, preserves their interest and builds bridges between religions, doctrines and cultures, while respecting their differences.  He paid tribute to late SIAC Chairman His Highness Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al-Khalifa, who played a role in establishing the council, promoting its mission and bolstering its pioneering role in highlighting the Islamic values of tolerance and moderation. He wished current (SIAC) Chairman Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and council members every success in assuming his duties. He expressed thanks to scholars and religious preachers for their role in guiding Muslims and promoting Islamic values which encourage learning, acquisition of knowledge and intellectual reasoning as stipulated in Quranic verse: "Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge"  (SIAC) Chairman Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Khalifa presented HM the King with the first edition of a book of reference written in five volumes by Imam ibn Al-Jawzi, who died in the year 597 Hijri. On behalf SIAC scholars, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Khalifa expressed deepest thanks and appreciations for the royal trust.
