SONGKHLA, April 8 (TNA) - Singaporeans, Malaysians and local tourists are now heading for Songkhla’s Hat Yai district to celebrate the water-splashing Songkran festival, due to start next week. Tourism operators in Hat Yai say hotels in this business district are now fully booked and they project that at least 200 million baht will be circulated during the festival. Operators of buses, connecting Hat Yai - Malaysia - Singapore say their buses are fully packed by foreign tourists. Also, Thai workers in the two neighbouring countries are returning to their home country to celebrate Songkran. Concerned officials and tourism operators have joined hands in organising ‘Hat Yai Midnight Songkran’ fair between April 11 – 13. Meanwhile, security in Hat Yai has been tightened.
