House Speaker Holds a Second Meeting With The Parliamentary Committee On Proposed Law Of The Federation Council

BAGHDAD / NINA / House Speaker, Osama al-Nujaifi held a second meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on the issue of the proposed law for the preparation of the Federation Council in its final form. The committee was formed last Tuesday under the supervision of House Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi and a number of MPs from different political blocs. " Nujaifi has held a meeting with the Committee on the second day of its formation, on last Wednesday. A parliamentary source said: "The proposed law will be presented to the Council's agenda in the coming days in order to vote on it." The UN mission in Iraq has called for the establishment of the Federation Council to be synonymous with the House of Representatives. This council includes representatives from the regions and provinces, and will be complementary to the House of Representatives in order to review laws enacted by the House of Representatives in addition to other tasks that may be assigned to the council , such as a review or ratify what comes out from the House of Representatives or the executive power. " According to the first draft of the law, it will comprise from 36 members by representing all eighteen governorates through direct election. / End
