House Speaker Meets With The Coordinator Of The International Coalition To Fight (IS)

BAGHDAD / NINA / Iraqi House Speaker, Salim al-Jubouri discussed with joint operations coordinator for the International Coalition Gen. John Allen, plans for military operations carried out by the international coalition in Iraq to fight the terrorist groups of the Islamic State. A statement quoted al-Jubouri as saying, during his meeting with Allen that "the Islamic State cannot be defeated through military operations only, but must take into account the humanitarian aspects and the reconstructing of areas that are exposed to military operations and provide services to them." He stressed the need "the use of the capabilities of the people of those areas and involve them actively in this war, and providing support to them and these military operations must accompany with real political reform process". The President of the House of Representatives confirmed that "We support the international coalition in the war against terrorist groups and extremist militias, stressing the need to limit arms in the hands of the state only if we want to build state institutions on correct basis, and in forefront of these institutions, the military and security" ./ end
