HRH Premier praises art, artists

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has underlined the importance of art in highlighting the civisational features of peoples and nations, and praised its role in reflecting the society's visions and aspirations, as well as its positive impact on public awareness. While receiving at the Gudaibiya Palace today the Awal Theatre's Board of Directors Chairman and members, and representatives of the delegations participating in the ninth Awal Theatre, HRH Premier hailed the milestone achievements of the GCC theatre movement, voicing pride in the outstanding elite of GCC theatre artists whose creativity, he said, has succeeded in promoting GCC art across the Arab world. HRH Premier stressed the importance of the continuous meetings of GCC artists on various artistic and cultural events in enhancing joint artistic and cultural action in deepening GCC peoples' awareness and strengthening them in facing attempts to influence them culturally. HRH the Prime Minister lauded the Awal Theatre, and its pioneering role in deepening literary and artistic awareness through its successive generations of outstanding artists, and highlighting social issues in all fields. HRH Premier affirmed that the support and care enjoyed by the artistic and theatre movement in the kingdom has enabled it to improve the public taste and educate new generations that art, as a memory of the nation, embodies Bahrain's deep-rooted values. Awal Theatre Board chairman and members expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his constant support to the artistic and theatre movement in the kingdom, which, he said contributed to the development of art in Bahrain and success in gaining regional and international praise. HRH Premier is the supporter of art and artists in the kingdom, and is constantly keen on meeting them and lauding their work, which, they said, has consolidated the values of national identity and preserved the distinctive cultural features of the Bahraini society.
