HRH Premier receives “Newsweek” magazine delegation

Manama, June 12 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received a delegation from the U.S “Newsweek” magazine, at the Gudaibiya Palace today. The delegation conducted a comprehensive interview with HRH Premier on the kingdom’s achievements in various fields, as well as on his visions towards the challenges to the region and the world. HRH the Prime Minister welcomed the delegation’s visit to the kingdom, and expressed his appreciation of the efforts exerted by Newsweek to cover the issues of the region, in general, and those of Bahrain, in particular. HRH Premier stressed the depth of the extensive contacts between Bahrain and the U.S on various development fields, lauding the steady progress of bilateral relations which, he said, embodies the two friendly countries' shared desire to constantly bolster their cooperation to achieve their common interests. The Prime Minister asserted that under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the kingdom had launched a development approach based on a strategy aimed at diversifying revenue sources and building a robust economy that is capable of competing internationally. HRH Premier highlighted the government’s keenness to develop and support everything that would consolidate the kingdom’s economic standing and competitive potentials, noting that Bahrain is witnessing rapid changes leading to sustainable growth in various fields. While referring to the kingdom’s development efforts which entitled it to rank high in international economic indicators, the Prime Minister said that Bahrain has a distinguished experience in human and sustainable development, and is resolved to continue its march to attain more achievements. Tackling the latest regional and global developments, HRH Premier said that the world is living in an era of great blocs, which requires strengthening the international community's ability to face threats and challenges that are difficult to be faced unilaterally. “The settlement of international conflicts of any kind can only be achieved through dialogue and negotiations, and this is a necessary condition for peace and stability to prevail in the world, and for everyone enjoys their benefits,” HRH Premier said.  The Prime Minister lauded the tremendous efforts exerted by sisterly Saudi Arabia to support security and stability in the region, noting that the internal developments witnessed by Saudi Arabia aim to strengthen its economic growth, achieve the interests of its people and consolidate its effective role in supporting regional and global peace and stability. Members of the Newsweek magazine’s delegation expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for receiving them and talking to them about various local, regional and international issues, noting that the Prime Minister’s opinions on various topics raised during the interview reflect the depth of his experience and broad vision. They expressed admiration for the people of Bahrain, and appreciation of the Bahraini citizens’ awareness, culture and openness, which, they said, proves the civilisational depth of the kingdom. They also expressed delight at visiting Bahrain, hailing the rapid development process it is currently witnessing. They pointed out that Newsweek will issue a special report on Bahrain, the first of its kind about a country in the Middle East region throughout the magazine’s 80-year history. The report will highlight Bahrain’s development and progress strides across various sectors. They expressed admiration for the advanced status reached by Bahrain at all levels.
