HRH Premier receives Bahrain Medical Society board

Manama, Apr. 24 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has urged the Bahrain Medical Society (BMS) to support the government's efforts to provide specialised medical competencies in the rare and delicate medical fields, and to encourage Bahraini medical staff to communicate with international medical centres to launch joint ventures. He called on BMS to contribute to efforts to serve society through increasing medical and health awareness and culture, affirming his support to consultations between hospitals and specialised medical centres. He also called for the need to take the psychological aspects while dealing with patients, given the importance of the psychological factors in this regard. HRH Premier was speaking as he received at the Gudaibiya Palace today the newly-elected Board of Directors of the Bahrain Medical Society, led by its President Abdulla Rafie. He congratulated the new BMS leadership on winning the confidence of Bahraini doctors to lead BMS to play its role in providing a sound environment for practising the noble and humanitarian profession –medicine. The health sector in the kingdom has reached advanced levels, in terms of quality and performance thanks to the continuous interest in supporting medical competencies and upgrading and medernising medical facilities to enable them to improve the health services delivered to the citizens and residents, HRH Premier said. HRH the Prime emphasised that despite the current economic challenges, the health sector in the kingdom enjoys all kinds of support and is expanding and being developed in order to upgrade the medical profession and maintain the advanced ranking of the kingdom in the fields of health care according to the latest international standards. HRH Premier affirmed the government's keenness to meet professional societies as part of its approach to interact with various sectors to identify their needs and be informed about their proposals on how enhance their performance and efficiency. BMS President Dr. Abdulla Rafie extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his support to BMS and the audience accorded to its board members, noting that the meeting is an opportunity to be informed about the Premier's directives on how to develop the medical professions and encourage the medical staff to acquire knowledge, contact world experts and adopt the latest treatment methods. Rafie confirmed that the Kingdom has achieved remarkable progress in the medical field as proved by international reports thanks to the sound policies of the government, led by HRH Premier. He lauded the Prime Minister's directives to recruit major world medical competencies to treat patients in the kingdom and provide an opportunity to the local medical staff to acquire more medical expertise.
