HRH Premier's interest in sickle cell patients hailed

Manama, June 19 (BNA): His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has received a cable of thanks and gratitude from the Chairman of the Bahrain Society for Sickle Cell Anaemia Patient Care, Zakariya Ibrahim Al-Kadhem, marking the World Sickle Cell Day, observed worldwide today.

Al-Kadhem extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his unwavering interest in sickle cell patients in Bahrain.

He stressed that HRH the Prime Minister, being among influential Arab, Islamic and world leaders, has contributed to enhancing Bahrain’s status in urban and sustainable development, as well as in scientific progress, which, he said, resulted in developed health services for patients in Bahrain, especially those with hereditary blood diseases.

He added that the Premier’s interest and encouragement of blood donation campaigns, coupled with laws and social awareness, has contributed to reducing the number of sickle cell patients and increasing blood stocks in Bahrain.

He highlighted HRH Premier’s landmark health achievements, which, he said, have contributed to improving sickle cell patients’ life, praising the Prime Minister’s support for national competencies through encouraging research, specilaised high education and specialised scientific conferences and training workshops to prepare qualified Bahraini staff.

He also hailed the Premier’s constant keenness to urge the media and the press to highlight sickle cell success stories to increase social awareness, stressing the importance of partnership with the media in combating the disease.

He affirmed that HRH Premier’s keenness to receive sickle cell patients at his Majlis, and the inclusion of the disease in Government Action Plan 2014-2018 have motivated the relevant ministries to increase their interest in hereditary blood diseases’ patients.

Al-Kadhem said that sickle cell patients are looking forward to more legislation and laws that enable them to work and keep their jobs in order to ensure decent living for them and their families, during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s prosperous era.

He prayed to Allah the Almighty to bless HRH Premier with abundant health and happiness and to guide him on the right path for the best interests of Bahrain and its people.
