HRH Princess Sabeeka patronises women conference

Manama, Nov.30 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) patronised a conference celebrating women employees in the banking sector. The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) organised the seminar in cooperation with the SCW under the slogan "Women in the Financial and Banking Sector, Leading the Change". Addressing the event, CBB Governor Rasheed Al-Maraj thanked HRH Princess Sabeeka for allocating this year's event in tribute to Bahraini employees in the financial and banking sectors and patronising the conference. He hailed the SCW-led efforts to empower Bahrain women and strengthen their participation in the national economic which helped them play a pivotal role in all fields. Citing updated statistics, he said that Bahraini women make up 32 per cent (32%) of the workforce in the financial and banking sector, stressing efforts to continue efforts to enhance their participation in these key pillars of the national economy. He called upon all banking and financial boards to disseminate the culture of corporate equal opportunities in their respective institutions and take the necessary steps to open the doors for qualified women to hold leading positions. SCW Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari shed light on a key project coordinated with banking and financial institutions to integrate the needs of Bahraini women and achieve equal opportunities. She underlined Bahrain's strides in promoting the status women and disseminating the culture of equal opportunity in all sectors. A plenary session was then held under the theme: "Leading the Change.. Influencing factors in determining the future of women in the financial sector". Al Salam Bank-Bahrain Chairperson, InJaz Chief Executive Officer Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa and other key banking figures addressed the session. A second discussion session was also held under the theme " Women's ability to sustainability and competitiveness in the financial and banking sector". It featured Intellect Resource Management Chief Executive Officer Sabah Khalil Almoayyed, Al Baraka Banking Group CEO Adnan Ahmed Youssef, Standard Chartered Bank financial executive director Shikha Tarif and Investcorp Bank Assistant CEO Shikha Hamdi Al-Shaikba.
