HRH Princess Sabeeka receives BWU’s new board

Manama, July 11 (BNA): Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has stressed that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s enlightened vision is the best guarantor for preserving and optimising Bahraini women’s gains and success in contributing effectively to the nation-building and modernisation march.
She also highlighted Bahraini women’s landmark contributions to the national march throughout the kingdom’s history, which, she said, are reflected in their unprecedented achievements in all work fields.

HRH Princess Sabeeka made the statements while receiving, at the SCW’s premises today, in the presence of Labour and Social Development Minister, the new board of directors of the Bahraini Women Union (BWU), led by Badriya Al-Marzouq.

HRH Princess Sabeeka stressed that the SCW, through its regular consultation meetings with the BWU, is keen to be informed about its visions and proposals on ways to increase Bahraini women’s gains and achievments, in line with the memorandum of understanding signed between them on the need to coordinate on the women advancement fields, and to support Bahraini women’s participation in the national development process.

Tackling this year’s Bahraini Women’s Day, the SCW president said that its efficial celebration, themed «the Bahraini Women in the Legislative and Municipal Work Fields», will be held under HM the King’s patronage.

She added that the Bahraini Women’s Day 2018, coinciding with the Parliamentary and Municipal elections, will provide an opportunity to highlight the bright image of the Bahraini women’s achievements and contributions to the legislative and municipal fields.

HRH Princess Sabeeka expressed her appreciation of the efforts exerted by the BWU since its establishment, adding that she is looking forward to seeing more quality initiatives to enrich women’s action in the coming period.

She stressed that the focus should be on following up on the impact of the implementation of many legislative, human rights and institutional gains, particularly programmes that highlight the importance of exercising political rights, and increasing women’s participation in public life and decision-making posts. 

BWU’s board chairperson and members lauded the tremendous efforts exerted by the SCW, under the leadership of HRH Princess Sabeeka, to enhance Bahraini women’s presence in and contributions to various fields.

They also valued highly HRH Princess Sabeeka’s constant keenness to coordinate and consult with the BWU and the relevant civil society organisations on issues related to Bahraini women.
