Huge amount of counterfeit US notes seized in Bangkok

BANGKOK, March 15 (TNA) - Police have seized a large amount of counterfeit US banknotes found inside a luggage, which was left at a rent apartment in central Bangkok. Police on Sunday morning were called to a report of a suspicious luggage and a huge amount of 100 US dollar banknotes left at a reception of the four-storey apartment in Pratunam area. They found a small safe inside the luggage, which contained some 20 bundles of US dollar banknotes and white powder. Bangkok police chief Police Lieutenant General Sriwara Rangsiphramanakul said police initially believe the seized dollar notes are fake and probably owned by African tourists who are members of the ‘black money scam’ gang. He said many African tourists visiting Bangkok prefer to stay in the area, which has many cheap hotels and apartments. The apartment owner reportedly told police that the apartment has a total of 18 rooms for rent and that he found the black luggage left on a counter desk on the first floor. The apartment owner said the luggage dropped from the desk and he saw the safe along with the banknotes. (TNA)
