Hungary's Foreign Minister To Visit Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, May 26 (Bernama) -- Hungarian Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto will be on a two-day working visit to Malaysia from Tuesday with the highlight of the visit being the re-opening of the country's embassy in Kuala Lumpur. Wisma Putra (Foreign Ministry) in a statement Monday said the re-opening of the embassy would make Hungary the 24th European country to have a mission in Kuala Lumpur. "The re-opening of the embassy is evidence of the importance of Malaysia in Hungary's relations with the Southeast Asian region," the statement said. "It is also a reflection of Hungary's commitment to further enhance its bilateral ties with Malaysia." Szijjarto's visit will be his first to Malaysia after being appointed as Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister in September last year. During his visit, Szijjarto is scheduled to meet his Malaysian counterpart Anifah Aman and to exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual concern. The visit will provide an excellent opportunity for both sides to renew their friendship and explore ways to further strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries in various areas including trade, investment, education and tourism. -- BERNAMA
