IAF to hang works by Quran calligrapher Hamid Ghabranejad

TEHRAN,Apr.17(MNA) – An exhibition of works by the late Quran calligrapher Hamid Ghabranejad will open at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) on Friday. A collection of 30 works by the master will go on display in the exhibit, which has been organized to commemorate the calligrapher, who passed away in March 2013 at the age of 55. “Inscribing Quran in the nastaliq style of calligraphy was one of my father’s major concerns,” Mani Ghabranejad, the son of the master told the Persian service of MNA on Wednesday. “He tried to finish the last joz (The Holy Quran is divided into 30 sections each of which is called a joz) and prepare it for the publication, but he died and left his work incomplete,” he added. Hamid Ghabranejad was a graduate of interior design and though he practiced traditional calligraphy style, new and modern combinations were observed in his works. Inscribing Persian old texts were also among his other activities. The Forum is located on Musavi St., off Taleqani Ave.
