ICAO lifts red flag on Thailand

BANGKOK, Oct 7 (TNA) - The United Nations International Civil Aviation Organisations (ICAO) on Saturday removed red flag status, imposed on Thailand’s aviation after recognising improvement of the country’s aviation safety standards. Chula Sukmanop, director-general of Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand said the ICAO had confirmed removal of the red flag status imposed on Thai aviation in June 2015 after seeing it was removed from the ICAO’s website earlier in the day. Mr. Chula said he would inform Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha on the issue and a press conference will be held on Monday. It is hoped that the removal of ‘red-flag’ by the ICAO’s will help boost Thai aviation industry and international airlines will expand more routes to Thailand. (TNA)
