IIDCYA produces notebooks bearing images of martyrs and mythical figures

TEHRAN,Sep.1(MNA) -- The Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) has recently produced a series of notebooks bearing images of contemporary martyrs who were killed during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war and Persian mythical figures. A brief introduction has also been published beside the images on the front cover of the notebooks, giving a short description about each legend, IIDCAY announced in a press release on Saturday. Old legends taken from Persian poet Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh such as Rustam and Sohrab along with themartyrs including Abbas Babaii, Hossein Fahmideh, and Mohammad-Ebrahim Hemmat, are among the names and images printed in the notebooks. The following are a few of the descriptions written beside the images. Legend has it that Arash shot an arrow from the peak of Mount Damavand (Iran’s highest mountain) to mark the border of Iran and Turan after the long-lasting war between the two countries. He had pulled his bow with all his strength, collapsed to the ground on Mount Damavand and passed away. The great commander Ario Barzan, a historic Persian hero who, along with his small contingent of soldiers, braved the massive attack launched by the army of Alexander the Great (356-323 BC) as a result of which he was killed in the region. Mohammad-Ebrahim Hemmat (1955-1983) was an Iranian commander during Iran-Iraq war. He was martyred in the Kheibar Operation. Abbas Babaii was born in 1950 in Qazvin. He finished his studies in Qazvin and graduated from Iran’s Pilot Training College. He was then transferred to the United States to complete further studies. He was an active participant in the war and was martyred on August 6, 1987. The notebooks are available in IIDCYA bookshops in different locations across the capital.
