Illegal Cambodian migrants nabbed in Thai border

SA KAEO, THAILAND, May 20 (TNA) - Thai authorities have arrested 228 illegal Cambodian immigrants in Sa Kaeo Province in the Thai East, bordering Cambodia. Thai army rangers of the Burapa Task Force joined forces with Sa Kaeo's immigration authorities to intercept the large group of illegal Cambodian migrants in Pa Rai and Nong Sang areas of Sa Kaeo's Aranyaprathet District on Wednesday. Out of the 228 arrested Cambodian migrants, 94 are men, 91 are women and 43 others are children, all of them did not have any legal travel document and were, thus, detained by the Thai authorities. The illegal migrants confessed that they had come from many Cambodian provinces and crossed the border on to the Thai soil to find jobs, as they are poor families with no farmlands and jobs and decided to leave their hometowns for a better life and economic status in Thailand. The illegal migrants told the Thai authorities that they had sneaked into Thailand through natural routes with no brokers and planned to find jobs in Bangkok and other large Thai cities. The Thai authorities told reporters that they would coordinate with Cambodia's immigration authorities to deport all the 228 illegal migrants to their hometowns. (TNA)
