Immigration Office Supports Darwin-Ambon Yacht Race

Ambon, Maluku, Aug 18 (Antara) - The Immigration office of Ambon city in Maluku province will continue to support the annual international Darwin-Ambon Yacht Race 2014 (DAYR-2014), stated an official. "We will place our officials alternately at Amahusu village, the official finish line of the DAYR-2014," Ambon Immigration Office Chief Nanang Koesdarjanto noted here on Monday. Nanang remarked that the immigration office has shouldered the responsibility of supporting the event as the participants in the race come from various countries. "Our officials will be present at the finish line in Amahusu village as long as the DAYR-2014 participants from many different countries are there," he emphasized. Maluku Deputy Governor Zeth Sahuburua is scheduled to flag off the yachts participating in the race from Darwin port in the Australian Northern Territory on August 23, 2014, and the first yacht is expected to reach the finish line at Amahusu beach on August 26. The Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race was initially organized by the Cruising Yacht Association of Northern Territory Incorporated (CYANT) in 1976, and since then, it has become an annual event under the umbrella of the Sister City Program between Ambon and Darwin.
