"India Corner" opened at second oldest university in Bangkok

BANGKOK, August 21 (TNA) - An "India Corner" has been opened at government-run Thammasat University (TU), Tha Pra Chan Campus, in Bangkok, the first and the sole location in the country where students and the general public are welcome to enjoy learning about India in various areas. The Indian Embassy to Thailand and the Pridi Banomyong International College (PBIC), run by TU, the country's second oldest university, jointly inaugurated the "India Corner" at the Pridi Banomyong Library in the compound of the Tha Pra Chan Campus of TU on Tuesday. PBIC Dean Asst. Prof. Dr. Nitinant Wisaweisuan said there are about 4,000 books about India, contributed by the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, that students and the general public can learn on the South Asian nation in various areas, including the political, economic, social and cultural aspects, as well as history. Asst. Prof. Dr. Nitinant told TNA that the "India Corner" not only promotes people's learning about India, but also shows strong relations between India and Thailand. Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Mr. Bhagwant Singh Bishno stressed that the "India Corner" at the Pridi Banomyong Library in the Tha Pra Chan Campus of TU is like a good bridge through which people in Thailand can know and understand more about India. "The India Corner" at the Pridi Banomyong Library has been opened to serve students and the general public since August 20, 2018. (TNA)
