New Delhi, May 22, IRNA – Terming the cultural relations between India and Iran are “extensive” and “uninterrupted”, an Indian scholar Monday emphasized the need to further strengthen the ties between the two nations. Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of a program in New Delhi, Dr. Syed Liyaqat Hussain Moini Chishti, Professor in Aligarh Muslim University said: “As India and Iran has deep rooted relations, it has been widely believed that we are not only friends but we are brothers due to affinities in culture, language and faith. He noted that both, India and Iran are promoter of peace and brotherhood. They always try to shun hatred and fanaticism. This made them identical and enabled them to capitalize on any opportunity that arose to improve their bilateral relations, he added. Elaborating to the term “uninterrupted”, Dr. Liyaqat said that whenever the external forces try to influence the friendly relation, the two nations immediately identified the areas of mutual benefit and sought to pursue the policies which brought them closer. “Undoubtedly culture plays an important role in strengthening of bilateral relations. Keeping in view of this, there is a need to foster and further strengthen cultural relations,” said Indian scholar. So that people can understand about the age old culture and traditions and their cultural heritage, he further added. This simple and calculus procedure will be sufficient to strengthen political, economic and the strategic ties./end
