India, Pakistan’s accession to SCO to provide additional dynamics for organization - Lavrov

The full-fledged accession of India and Pakistan to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will make the organization a more dynamic and effective mechanism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday, opening talks with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj. Lavrov noted that he "would like to discuss the foreign policy cooperation between Russia and India in general, taking into account the joint initiatives and actions on the international stage, and also taking into account the fact that India assumes the BRICS chairmanship." "We would be interested in discussing cooperation within the SCO framework, taking into account the fact that during the SCO summit in Ufa a decision was taken on the admission of India and Pakistan to the organization as full-fledged members," Lavrov noted.
