Indian Prez, Vice-Prez, PM Wishes Countrymen On Milad-un-Nabi

New Delhi, Jan 26, IRNA – India’s President, Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President, M Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Thursday wished the countrymen on Milad-un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), will be celebrated across the country on Friday, 25th January. “On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of the Holy Prophet, I send my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens,” the President said in his message. Pranab said that may the message of universal brotherhood, compassion, tolerance and service to humanity preached by the Holy Prophet guide and inspire us all to live a righteous and productive life. The Vice President in his message said that the Holy Prophet showed us the righteous path of compassion, tolerance, peaceful coexistence and universal brotherhood. “I extend my greetings and best wishes to all our citizens on the auspicious occasion. “May His eternal message continue to guide us in building a peaceful and harmonious society,” Ansari added. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, greeting the nation on the occasion, in his message recalled the timeless teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which speak of brotherhood, tolerance and compassion among fellow human beings. Eid Milad-un-Nabi would be observed with religious fervor and respect on Friday, January 25 this year. As a tradition, Milad-un-Nabi processions would be held across the country. Milad-un-Nabi is a gazetted holiday in India so all central and state government offices, educational institutions and banks are closed on the day./end
