Indonesia Committed To Promoting Foreign Diplomacy

By Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, Jan 5 (Bernama) -- Indonesia will continue with efforts to manage and promote reforms in foreign diplomacy in 2012, said its Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa. This, he said, was to create a conducive environment in pursuit of common security, common stability and common prosperity. "Indonesia will unyieldingly struggle for peace and prosperity. "Developments in 2011 proved this commitment and in 2012, this will continue to be the platform for Indonesia's foreign diplomacy and politics," he said in the Indonesian Foreign Ministry's annual statement here Wednesday. Marty said that throughout 2011, Indonesia focused on enhancing relations with neighbouring countries. This included efforts to enhance bilateral mechanisms so as to further improve relations with other countries, among them, Timor Leste, New Zealand, Malaysia, the United States and Japan," he said. -- BERNAMA Malaysia
