Indonesian Embassy Repatriates Migrant Worker From Saudi

Cairo, Egypt, Jan 28 (Antara) - The Indonesian Embassy to Saudi Arabia in Riyadh has repatriated a migrant worker named Abdurrahman Bin Najmudin, who has recovered from a stroke, to Indonesia. According to the information made available by the Riyadh Embassy, Abdurrahman was repatriated along with 14 Indonesian migrant workers on Monday (Jan. 26) by flying them back aboard a Saudi Airlines flight. The embassy stated here on Tuesday (Jan. 27) that Abdurrahman had been in comma for four months and had undergone treatment for 13 months at the King Abdul-Aziz Hospital in Makkah. He arrived in Saudi Arabia on March 17, 2009, through the Sabrina Pramitha Migrant Worker Distribution Company and worked as a driver in Muhammad Rashid Al Uwaidah Ltd. Co. at a monthly salary of one thousand riyal. Abdurrahman suffered a stroke while conducting Umrah pilgrimage on March 28, 2011, and was admitted in the King Abdul-Aziz Hospital. The Embassy revealed that he also had pending arrears worth 113,264 Saudi riyal or US$30,130 due to his hospital treatment. The Saudi Immigration Office also charged an immigration sanction fee from Abdurrahman as the company had not extended the expiry date on his identity card. However, the Indonesian Embassy has received the exit only permit from the Saudi government for Abdurrahman on January 14, 2015. Thus, Abdurrahman was freed from any fee charges. The Embassy has given Abdurrahman several facilities such as medicines, food, and a communication device at the evacuation shelter located in the Indonesian Embassy of Riyadh. Additionally, there are still 95 problematic Indonesian migrant workers housed at the evacuation shelter in the Indonesian Embassy. According to him, the second plan of action will be implemented after the search members are given a two-day rest period. "On Saturday, the search team will again be deployed at the main sector to continue the search," he said.
