Indonesian man nabbed at Thai airport with 5kg cocaine

PHUKET, THAILAND, April 21 (TNA) - An Indonesian man was arrested at Phuket International Airport in southern Thailand on April 20 for allegedly smuggling five kilograms of cocaine. Phuket Governor Nisit Chansomwong, along with chief customs officer at Phuket International Airport Monthira Cherdchoo and other concerned agencies, announced the arrest and detention of the 63-year-old Indonesian man at a press conference in the southern Thai resort province on April 21. The authorities said the Indonesian suspect, identified as Jemani Ikhsan, was arrested at the Phuket Airport on Monday night while carrying a luggage scanned to have the 5.2 kilogram-cocaine hidden inside. According to the authorities, the cocaine, worth about 15.6 million baht, was found hidden in three books and six thermal fax paper rolls inside the luggage. The Indonesian suspect, who arrived at the Phuket International Airport via a SilkAir flight from Singapore, was, thus, apprehended for further investigation and he would face legal action if he was found guilty, while all the drug was seized.
