Indonesian Migrant Workers Killed in Korea Explosion, Eight Survive: Embassy

Jakarta, March 1 (Antara) - An Indonesian migrant worker was killed while eight Indonesian workers survived when an explosion happened in a fire extinguishing storage tank in the Hanguksobang factory, Gyeongbuk Province, South Korea. "Six of them were in a stable condition. One migrant worker from Ponorogo, East Java Province, Didik Setiawan, died and two others, Dwi Mulyono and Hari Subagyo were injured. Dwi and Hari are being treated in a hospital in the Gyeongbuk Province," the coordinator of the Consular at the Embassy in Seoul, Aji Surya, said in a written statement received here on Tuesday. On Monday (February 29), the fire extinguishing storage tanks in the Hanguksobang factory exploded during a welding process. The explosion killed one Indonesian migrant worker, Didik Setiawan from Ponorogo, East Java Province. South Korean security officials have investigated the cause of the explosion. The survivors coordinated with the embassy in Seoul. "They also took care of their injured friends," Surya said. The embassy in Seoul has been collecting data and providing assistance to victims in coordination with the deputy head of the company. The company has contacted the family of the deceased to make arrangements to send the body to his home country.***4***
