Indonesian Military Plane Crashes Into Homes, Three Killed

JAKARTA, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Two civilians were among three people killed after an Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) plane crashed into two houses and a surau (prayer house) in the hamlet of Blimbing Kota Malang, East Java at around 11am Wendesday. Local media said one of the civilians was washing clothes outside her house while the other was in her home. (TNI AU) chief Agus Supriatna was quoted by the local media as saying that the pilot of the EMB-314 Super Tucano identified as Ivy Safatillah was killed in the incident. He said the Air Force was as yet unable to provide full details as search and rescue efforts for an Air Force technician who was also on board the ill-fated aircraft were still ongoing. The pilot and technician are believed to jumped out of the plane before it ploughed into the buildings. The pilot's body was found about 2km from where the plane went down, according to the media reports. The dead civilians were identified as Erma Wahyuningtia and Nur Cholis. -- BERNAMA
