Indonesia's senior army officer visits Thailand

BANGKOK, September 3 (TNA) - Indonesian Commander of the Ninth Regional Military Command Udayana Major General Wisnu Bawa Tenaya is paying a three-day visit to Thailand from September 2-4, 2014 under a programme on exchange visits between Thai and Indonesian high ranking army officers. Commanding General of Thailand's First Army Area Command Lieutenant General Thirachai Nakwanich welcomed the visiting Indonesian commander at the First Army Area Command headquarters in Bangkok on Wednesday. During the meeting, the Thai and Indonesian army commanders discussed approaches on boosting military cooperation between the two neighbouring countries in various aspects. Lieutenant General Thirachai also took the opportunity to brief Thailand's updated situation to the visiting Indonesian senior army officer to create proper understanding about the Thai Kingdom based on the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)'s policies. During his stay in Thailand, the Indonsesian commander is scheduled to visit several divisions under the Royal Thai Army, including the Burapha Task Force operating along border areas, and to observe the Royal Thai Army's missions, namely guarding members of the Royal Family and very important persons (VIPs). The programme on exchange visits between Thai and Indonesian high ranking army officers is aimed at further enhancing cooperation between Thai and Indonesia Armies for this year. (TNA)
