Industry Transformation Center to open in August

Bangkok, July 10 – The Department of Industrial Promotion spends 924 million baht to open the Industry Transformation Center (ITC) in August. Department director-general Phasu Lohanchoon said the center would be opened on Soi Tri Mitr off Rama IV Road to promote the industries that applied innovations and technologies to make products of high value. According to him, the center will facilitate cooperation among Thai and foreign leading industrialists, transfer innovations and technologies, share hardware and software, and arrange for financial support. Design and engineering specialists from industrial associations will offer their services through the new center. They will come from the National Science and Technology Development Agency, the Plastics Institute of Thailand, the Thai-German Institute, the Electrical and Electronics Institute and the Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand among others. The industries that the center will support include the production of medical instruments, aircraft parts and robots. Besides, the center will support the improvement of manufacturing with digital technologies and the production that responds to global value chains. The 924-million-baht budget was set for the support in five years, Mr Phasu said. During the implementation period, he expects 14,000 workers in the targeted industries will improve their capabilities and help develop at least 430 businesses. (TNA)
