Int’l Congress Of IAO Underway In Tehran

Tehran, Oct 1, IRNA - The 12th International Congress of Iranian Association of Orthodontists (IAO) is underway in Tehran. Dr. Mohammad Sadeq Akhoundi, president of the congress, said the congress is organized to promote the scientific level of orthodontists. “Prominent specialists from USA, Australia, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Lebanon, India and Turkey will attend the event,” he said. The official noted that the congress is to focus on using self-ligating brackets, lingual braces and CAD/CAM system for orthodontic treatment planning. He further said the Iranian Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, in association with Prosthodontists and Iranian Dental Association, have organized the event. Akhoundi said an exhibition on dental equipment and materials will also be held on the sidelines of the congress that ends on October 3. Professor Ali Akbar Bahreman and his colleagues established the Iranian Association of Orthodontists in 1977. He is one of the distinguished guests of the event. From that year, the orthodontic profession improved rapidly in terms of techniques. The IAO 2014 meeting will highlight all aspects of the orthodontic and oral health sciences and identify grand challenges and opportunities for orthodontics. Dr. Johan Reyneke, maxillofacial and oral surgeon from the University of Monterrey, Mexico, Dr. Francesco Garino from the University of Padova, Italy, Dr. Joseph Bouserhal from Saint Joseph’s University, Pennsylvania, USA, Dr. Nejat Erverdi from the European Orthodontic Society, Dr. K.H. Breuning from the Department of Orthodontic and Craniofaciale Biology, Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and Dr. Martin Romero Maroto from Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid are among keynote speakers of the congress. The congress will have pre- and post-congress courses on interdisciplinary treatment, myofunctional therapy and temporary anchorage devices./end
