Int’l Seminar On Energy Access Starts In India With Iran’s Participation

New Delhi, Oct 9, IRNA – The ministerial meeting of the International Seminar on Energy Access kicked off at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi Tuesday with Iran's participation. The meeting was hosted by visiting Energy Minister of Iran Majid Namjoo. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh and the country's Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah welcomed the delegates. More than 50 Ministers and senior government functionaries from different countries, UN bodies, organizations, international players and NGOs attended the two-day seminar. It envisaged as an international platform for the government, private sector, and non-governmental leaders to jointly address the goal of achieving Energy Access. The objective of the seminar is to share and exchange of experiences, best practices, and innovative solutions on energy access. It will serve as a platform for participating countries to network, catalyze ideas and share information in a more focused manner, which will help them to drive concerted action to achieve universal energy access by 2030. The seminar will also facilitate bring together government functionaries, practitioners from the private sector and civil society working on the delivery of energy services and solutions to develop a more integrated approach to energy access planning and execution in support of the Sustainable Energy for All Target. The principal purpose is to promote development of renewable energy by removing barriers impeding Renewable Energy use and its deployment in large scale for attaining sustainable energy for all./end
