Integrated rights of PWDs to be first endorsed at 2018 ASEAN Summit

BANGKOK, November 12 (TNA) - An unprecedented regional development, a major document on integrated rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) will be endorsed at this year's ASEAN Summit and related forums, scheduled to be held in Singapore during November 13-15. Deputy Government Spokesman Lieutenant General Werachon Sukondhapatipak told journalists on Monday that the major document is an ASEAN master plan on promoting and realizing the integrated rights of PWDs in the region by 2025, the targeted year. The deputy spokesman stated that the master plan on the integrated rights of PWDs in the region, the first-ever document of its kind, is among seven documents to be endorsed at this year's ASEAN Summit and related forums. According to the deputy spokesman, the other six documents include an ASEAN framework on smart cities, an ASEAN declaration on promoting environmentally-friendly tasks for equal growth and public participation in the ASEAN Community (AC), a joint ASEAN communique on the climate change in line with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and another joint ASEAN communique on conserving biodiversity in the region. The deputy spokesman said Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha is also scheduled to hold bilateral talks with leaders of the United States, Chile, Australia and New Zealand on the sidelines of this week's 33rd ASEAN Summit and related forums.
