Intergovernmental commission discussed cooperation between Russia and Japan in Far East

MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. The Russian-Japanese intergovernmental commission on trade and economic matters discussed cooperation in the field of transport, infrastructure and agriculture in Russia’s Far East at the today’s meeting, representative of the secretariat of First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said on Tuesday. "Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of transport, infrastructure and agriculture in Russia’s Far Eastern Region. Igor Shuvalov urged Japan’s companies to more actively participate in investment projects in the field of production and processing of agricultural products at the Far East," the source said. The parties discussed a series of promising projects in energy, medical sector and urban development. "Russia and Japan may efficiently work in the sphere of exchange of advanced medical and industrial technologies and in the sphere of knowledge transfer in high technology areas," representative of the secretariat said.
