International Sports Press Association Congress Kicks Off

Doha, February 07 (QNA) - Under the patronage and in presence of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the 79th International Sports Press Association (AIPS) congress will officially get underway in Doha tomorrow. The congress, which is organized by Qatari sports media committee under its chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Ahmed Al-Thani and attended by a number of political and sports figures, will come to an end on Wednesday. The congress events started today with a meeting for its AIPS Executive Committee where participants discussed a number of topics on the agenda along with proposals of countries bidding to host the 80th AIPS congress which will be held next year. Tomorrow's events will kick off with the continental meeting to be attended by representatives of the general assembly and will be followed by important presentations by HE the Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Dr Thani bin Abdulrahamn Al Kuwari; the Secretary General of Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy Hassan Abdullah Al Thawadi; along with presentation by International Centre for Sport Security to be presented by Massimiliano Montanari on Save the Dream program; followed by another by Qatar Rail. Others to make presentations include International University Sports Federation's (FISU) president Oleg Matytsin, and UEFA Head of Events Services Lukas Achermann. The participating delegation in the AIPS congress will also attend events and activities held as part of Qatar Sports Day which will be marked on Tuesday. Participating journalists will also take part in Qatar Sports Day activities in Aspire Academy, Katara and Qatar Foundation. Arranged by the Organizing Committee, the participants will make field visits to several venues including a visit to one of the stadiums expected to host the FIFA World Cup 2022. They will also visit Labor City to learn about the latest preparations and efforts by the World Cup organizing committee to organize this important event which will be held in the Middle East region for the first time.
