Int'l community believed to seek peaceful solution to Syria's case

BANGKOK, September 12 (TNA) - Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed concerns over the situation in Syria, urging the international community to help seek peaceful solution to pave the way for an ultimate decision of Syrians based on democracy in the future. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement issued on Thursday, Thailand believes that the international community is resorting to all means for a peaceful settlement for ongoing political strife in Syria so that Syrian civilians can decide their own future through an inclusively-democratic process. The official statement also calls on a United Nation fact-finding team to quickly report the result of its probe on the situation in Syria as soon as possible, while requesting the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) to take effective action accordingly for the protection of innocent people in the Middle East country. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement on Thailand’s position on Syria also reiterates the strongest condemnation against the use of chemical weapons, which is regarded as a serious war crime against international norms, and calls for a firm and unified response by the international community to find out those who are behind the serious war crime in Syria.
