Int'l community satisfied with Thailand's solutions to Rohingya migrants

BANGKOK, June 2 (TNA) - Thailand's actions and solutions to Rohingya migrants have been praised by the international community. Deputy National Police Chief Police General Aek Angsananont told journalists on Tuesday that the Royal Thai Police briefed on Thailand's response to the trafficking of migrants, including Rohingya people, to representatives of 18 countries and international organizations in Bangkok earlier in the day and most of them expressed his appreciation to the Thai Kingdom for serious and quick actions and solutions. Police General Aek said that the US representative, in particular, expressed readiness to help Rohingya migrants. Regarding the autopsy of 36 Rohingya bodies found on the Kaeo Mountain in Sadao District of Songkhla Province in the Thai South, the deputy national police chief revealed that the examination on 34 bodies found no traces of physical attacks, while the examination of the two other bodies has not yet finished but officials initially assumed that one of the two had been assaulted. The deputy police chief also said that Thai officials would help their Malaysian counterparts to examine over 100 graves in Malaysia to investigate migrant smuggling between both countries, with findings from the collaboration to support Thai police's migrant trafficking investigation report set to be concluded by June 20, 2015. Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police asked Myanmar, Bangladesh and Indonesia to exchange information on human trafficking. (TNA)
