Int'l diplomats briefed on Thailand's new Constitution drafting

BANGKOK, October 19 (TNA) - Thailand's Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) has briefed diplomats of about 40 countries and representatives of 20 international organisations of progress in the country's new Charter drafting. A CDC member and spokesman, Norachit Sinhaseni, presented the details to the invited international audience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok on Monday, which included a question-and-answer (Q&A) session. The presentation included Section 35 of Thailand's Provisional Constitution 2014, which guides the content of the new Constitution, and drafting guidelines from the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). On the occasion, the CDC spokesman assured the international diplomats that the task would be completed over the next six months as scheduled. Last week, CDC had such a session with representatives of independent organisations, including representatives from the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), the Election Commission of Thailand (EC), the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) and the Office of the Ombudsman.
