SUKHOTHAI, THAILAND, November 6 (TNA) - International visitors are welcome to ancient Sukhothai Province in the Lower Thai North for the traditional Loy Krathong Festival 2015, set from November 21-25, during which a grand procession of krathongs or floating lotus crafts of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will also be organised. Sokhothai Governor Piti Keaosalapsri told journalists on Friday that his province joins forces with the Department of Fine Arts and the state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to organise the Loy Kratong and Lights Festival 2015 at the Sukhothai Historical Park in Muang District, the annual event of which has been held since 1977, aimed to promote not only Thailand's traditional Loy Krathong Festival, but also the provincial tourism. The governor said that international visitors will also enjoy other activities, including an alms offering ceremony to Buddhist monks at a local temple, a worship of late Thai Kings who ruled Suthothai in the old days and a small kratongs contest. Besides, international visitors can enjoy their shoppings at markets, including a floating one, along with light and sound shows for all the five days and five nights. According to the governor, the "Khao Kwan Wan Len Fai" will also be organised, in which all visitors are welcome to share a meal together, replicating the way it was done in the old days. The governor revealed that a cultural parade and Miss Loy Kratong Pageant will be organised as well for international visitors to enjoy and on November 25 alone, they can view a kratong presented by the Royal Thai family and enjoy a parade of a light of auspice.
