Int'l visitors welcome to Thailand' BOI Fair 2011

BANGKOK, January 5 (TNA) - International visitors are now welcome to Thailand's BOI Fair 2011 under the theme “Going Green for the Future”, being held at Muang Thong Thani in the outskirts of Bangkok from January 5-20, 2012, which showcases latest world innovations. According to Vice Minister for Industry Suparp Kleekachai, the 16-day BOI Fair, inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Thursday afternoon, demonstrates Thailand’s readiness to serve as an international production and distribution base. Secretary General of the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) Atchaka Sribunruang Brimble said, meanwhile, that a highlight of the BOI Fair 2011, postponed from late last year due to a flooding crisis, is the multimedia exhibition of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s environmental principles held at the Sattasom Pavilion, a largest presentation of its kind. Atchaka acknowledged that the BOI Pavilion itself showcases a robot playing a xylophone and drums, along with a dance performance and a 4D movie; while the Thai Pavilion showcases robots named “Khun Thong Tod” and Dinsor Song, in addition to an exhibition on space exploration. According to the BOI chief, the 16-day event also features world latest technological developments, including a demonstration of a 7.2 Richter scale quake-resistant home, a new speed train developed by Japan-based Hitachi Ltd., a 4D adventure presented by Bangkok-based PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), 4D films for children including “Birdland” and “Sheldon”, world products of the future including a latest version of a photocopy machine introduced by Japan-based Toshiba Corporation, a transparent television developed by South Korea-based Samsung, portable electric vehicles developed by Japan-based Toyota Motor Co., Ltd and electric vehicles introduced by US-based Chevrolet. The BOI chief assessed that the two-week BOI Fair 2011, the third of its kind, could draw over 5 million international visitors. (TNA)
