Iran’s proposal to prevent corruption welcomed at OIC forum

Islamabad, April 29, IRNA - Iran’s proposal to prevent corruption and mismanagement from social institutions has been welcomed at a conference on Networking of Ombudsmen of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, said an Iranian official. Talking to IRNA, Vice President of Iran’s General Inspection Organization Waliullah Khobreh said that Pakistani foreign minister at the 39th ministerial session of the OIC had suggested to form a join networking group of the ombudsmen of the OIC member states. He said that objective of Iran’s general inspection organization is to address the problems of the people without involving the judiciary and check if there is any corruption in the social institutions of the country. “We are invited to the conference to share our experience with the Ombudsmen of other OIC member states,” he said. He said that the Iranian delegation has also presented an article to the conference suggesting to make the networking among the OIC Ombudsmen offices more influential. He added that the suggestion of Iran has been welcomed in the meeting. Khobreh stressed the need for eliminating corruption from social institutions. The Iranian official noted that out of 57 members of the OIC only 27 countries are having the institution of Ombudsman which means that in many OIC states there is no institution to solve the problems of the people regarding human rights, women and children issues without involvement of judiciary. He called upon all the OIC Ombudsmen to share their experience in the conference and enhance their cooperation for addressing the problems of the people. The two-day conference, kicked off in Pakistan on Monday, is being attended by Ombudsmen or their deputies from 24 OIC countries including Iran besides delegates from the OIC itself and Islamic Development Bank. end
