Iran, Azerbaijan discuss regional, int'l issues

Tehran, March 9, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov reviewed the most important regional and international issues. During the meeting which was held on Saturday, both sides emphasized bilateral cooperation in economic field. Earlier, Azeri Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev referred to opening of Rasht-Qazvin railway and said it is a historical, sensitive and important move. 'The railway is the most important part of North-South corridor and of high importance for both Iran and Azerbaijan and even regional countries. He said Baku has taken necessary measures to complete Rasht-Astara railway which is hoped to be implemented soon. Meanwhile, earlier, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tehran-Baku cooperation in various fields, especially in the current Iranian government, is developing more compared with the past. He emphasized the fact that Iranian government is determined to strengthen and to expand cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan as a neighbor, friend and brother.
