Iran calls for unity, strengthening internal solidarity in Iraq

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber said on Wednesday that Iran emphasizes maintaining unity and strengthening the internal solidarity of all political groups, religions, and ethnicities in Iraq. In a telephone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi on Wednesday, Mokhber thanked the government, the nation, and the country’s legal institutions who managed the situation in Iraq patiently and rationally. Stating that maintaining unity and strengthening the internal solidarity of all political groups, religions, and ethnicities in Iraq is a serious emphasis of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he underscored that the Iraqi government's ability to host and welcome pilgrims is one of the signs of its authority, and Tehran is ready to provide Baghdad with any assistance in this regard. Referring to the Arbaeen ritual in Iraq and a large number of pilgrims, Mokhber stressed the need to facilitate the transportation of pilgrims, adding that the Iraqi government's pursuits to facilitate the reception of pilgrims at the border are commendable. Al-Kadhimi, for his part, announced the full readiness of the government, military, and Iraqis to serve the pilgrims and said that all government and volunteer forces are organized to provide the necessary services in the field of transportation and supplying pilgrims' needs.
